Armenia, Türkiye broadcasting regulators discuss cooperation

A meeting between Tigran Hakobyan, Chairman of Armenia’s Television and Radio Commission, and Deniz Güler, Vice President of the Radio and Television Supreme Council of Türkiye (RTÜK), was held in Sofia on the sidelines of the 13th annual meeting of the Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF).

The Television and Radio Commission of Armenia said in a press release that during the meeting, the sides discussed developments and current challenges in the broadcasting sector, as well as a number of issues related to the activities of regulatory bodies.

The sides also discussed possibilities for further developing and expanding cooperation between the regulatory bodies of Armenia and Türkiye, including the exchange of experience and professional knowledge, the promotion of sectoral dialogue, and cooperation within the framework of initiatives of mutual interest. They also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation on international and regional platforms.

The sides stressed the importance of continuing such meetings, emphasizing the role of dialogue in the effective regulation of the broadcasting sector and in jointly responding to new challenges.

The possible signing of a Memorandum of Understanding was also discussed, with its draft already under development.
