Armenia to host 2027 Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum annual meeting

The Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF) held its 13th annual meeting in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, on September 16-18, bringing together regulatory authorities from 12 countries.

A delegation of the Television and Radio Commission of Armenia participated in the meeting, led by Commission Chairman Tigran Hakobyan.

Alla Tumanyan, Head of the International Relations, Public Relations and Development Programs Department of the Commission, presented the challenges facing Armenia’s television and radio sector and ways to address them, as well as the work carried out by the Commission and its significant achievements in 2025.

According to a statement released by the Television and Radio Commission of Armenia, following presentations of reports on the participating member countries, the Commission was nominated as the forum’s next chairing body for 2027, which was unanimously approved. Thus, the 14th annual BRAF meeting will be held in Armenia in September 2027.

During the event, Television and Radio Commission Chairman Tigran Hakobyan met with Deniz Güler, Vice President of the Radio and Television Supreme Council of Türkiye (RTÜK). The sides discussed developments and current challenges in the broadcasting sector, as well as a number of issues related to the activities of regulatory authorities.

Lilia Simonyan, an adviser to the Chairman of the Television and Radio Commission, participated in the first panel discussion, titled “How AI Is Transforming Content Creation, Moderation and Distribution,” along with representatives from Bulgaria and Greece.

The second panel discussion of the day, titled “The Future of Media Regulation in an AI-Driven World,” featured representatives from Albania, Türkiye, Serbia and Romania.
