Former President Robert Kocharyan has been brought to the Anti-Corruption Court, where a motion to place him in pre-trial detention will be considered, the Anti-Corruption Committee said.
Kocharyan, along with his eldest son Sedrak and other suspects in a criminal case, was arrested earlier on August 25 in a major corruption investigation. Sedrak has since been placed in pre-trial detention, but the former president’s hearing was delayed because he fell ill and required a medical checkup.
“The Anti-Corruption Committee informs that the motion to impose detention as a preventive measure on R.K., who is accused of money laundering on an especially large scale, abuse of official powers and receiving a bribe on an especially large scale, as well as the accused R.K., have been presented to the Anti-Corruption Court,” the Anti-Corruption Committee said.
Kocharyan denies wrongdoing.
