Armenian authorities on Tuesday launched searches at dozens of properties belonging to former President Robert Kocharyan and members of his family as part of a corruption-related criminal investigation.
“In response, we would like to inform you that searches and other procedural actions are being carried out at several dozen addresses by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia. Additional information will be provided if necessary,” the Anti-Corruption Committee said when asked about the reports.
Robert Kocharyan is the leader of the Armenia Alliance, and his younger son, Levon, is an MP representing the bloc in parliament.
Armenia Alliance MP Mesrop Manukyan earlier said on social media that law enforcement officers had also raided Levon Kocharyan’s home.
Meanwhile, the former president’s office reported that Robert Kocharyan had been taken to the Anti-Corruption Committee by law enforcement officers.
