Armenia reimburses citizens affected by Middle East flight disruptions

The Armenian Foreign Ministry has provided airfare reimbursements to Armenian citizens who purchased new tickets to return to Armenia or because their transit flights were canceled as a result of military operations in the Middle East in February.

According to the Foreign Ministry, 630 applications submitted by Armenian citizens were approved between April 10 and August 20, resulting in compensation for 902 citizens. The total amount of compensation provided was around AMD 174 million (around $477,000), with up to AMD 250,000 provided per person.

“The Foreign Ministry supported citizens throughout the entire process, from completing applications and submitting the necessary documents to providing compensation, cooperating with airlines and travel companies when necessary,” the ministry said.

Given the declining number of applications, the government, through its August 20 Decision No. 1237, has set August 25 as the deadline for submitting applications.
