The 13th Fresco International Festival in Yerevan will host a meeting with Israeli photographer and journalist Dmitry Brickman.
What can a photograph tell us when words are no longer enough? How can the essence of music, literature or human emotion be transformed into a photographic image?
These questions will be explored on August 24 during a meeting with Dmitry Brickman, the creator and host of the program Children’s Unchildish Questions.
Brickman has developed a unique approach to photography known as “photographic translation,” based on a dialogue between different forms of art. In his work, photography becomes not merely a record of reality, but also a means of making literary, musical and emotional imagery visible.
During the meeting, Brickman will present his creative approach and the concept of “photographic translation” through examples from his own work. Participants will have the opportunity to view Brickman’s photographs and photographic films, hear the stories behind their creation, and engage in direct dialogue with the artist.
The Q&A session will also explore how the visual imagery of a photograph is created, how photography conveys what cannot be expressed in words, and where the boundaries lie between photography and other art forms.
