Temperatures to drop across Armenia as rain and hail forecast

Air temperatures are expected to decline across Armenia later this week as cooler air moves into the country, bringing rain and the possibility of hail, Gagik Surenyan, Deputy Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center, said in a video posted on Facebook.

According to Surenyan, July 13-15 will remain under the influence of warm southern air currents, maintaining the relatively high temperatures already established across the country.

"The hottest areas will once again be the Ararat Valley and Yerevan, where daytime temperatures on July 13-15 are forecast to reach 36–38°C in the shade. Late on July 15, these warm air masses will gradually retreat southward and be replaced by relatively cooler air flowing in from the Black Sea. This influx will continue through July 18. As a result, daytime temperatures across the country are expected to fall by 4-5 degrees Celsius between July 16 and 18, compared with July 15," he said.

Surenyan said dry weather is expected to persist throughout Armenia until July 14.

From the late evening of July 15 through July 18, isolated parts of the country are expected to experience brief thunderstorms, accompanied by short periods of rain and hail in some areas, mainly during the evening and overnight hours.

He added that isolated thunderstorms and brief showers are also possible in parts of Yerevan during the late evening hours between July 16 and 18.
