Large-scale search operation continues for second missing child in Armenian city

Rescuers and volunteers continued search operations on Saturday for the second of two sisters who went missing in Vanadzor on June 15, days after the body of the younger child was found in the Pambak River.

Authorities have not yet located the 13-year-old girl, and search efforts involving multiple emergency and law enforcement units remain underway.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement that 167 rescuers, 90 police officers, divers, and numerous volunteers are involved in the operation. UAVs, boats, and other equipment have also been deployed.

The body of 7-year-old Nare Martirosyan was found in the Pambak River at around 9:30 a.m. on June 17, some 500 meters from the location where she is believed to have fallen into the river.

The girls were reported missing after leaving an address on Narekatsi Street in Vanadzor, Lori Province, on June 15.
