The Cabinet approved on Thursday a bill on ratifying the Board of Peace Charter.

The bill will now be sent to parliament for ratification.

Armenia is among the founding member states of the Board of Peace, which was established under the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The bill states that the Board of Peace is an “international organization whose main objective is to promote stability and ensure peace in conflict-affected regions.”

The organization aims to develop and disseminate best practices for establishing peace within the framework of international law.

The Ministry of Justice stated that the document does not contradict current legislation and is subject to ratification in accordance with the procedure established by the Constitution.

The Foreign Ministry also endorsed the ratification.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed the Board of Peace Charter alongside other world leaders in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22.

Pashinyan was invited to sign the charter as a founding member by U.S. President Donald Trump.
