Civil Contract party submits candidate list for upcoming elections

Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party has submitted its nomination documents to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7.

The documents were filed by Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister and party board member Arayik Harutyunyan, along with Civil Contract MPs Vahagn Aleksanyan and Arusyak Julhakyan.

Speaking to reporters, Harutyunyan said the party had nominated 283 candidates.

“All documents had already been uploaded through the electronic system, and today we submitted the hard copies in line with the required procedures,” he said.

He added that the process had been transparent, noting that the candidate list had been compiled over several months using what he described as democratic mechanisms.

“We began forming the list late last year and used all available tools typical of democratic systems,” Harutyunyan said.

Asked about key rivals, he said the party views all political forces as competitors.

“We treat all parties with respect and attention. Depending on political developments, we may focus more on some than others, but we consider all of them competitors,” he added.
