Shirak governor Davit Arushanyan declines parliamentary seat, to remain in current post

Shirak Governor Davit Arushanyan has announced that he has declined his parliamentary mandate in the National Assembly to be formed following the June 7 elections and will continue serving as governor of Shirak Province.

Arushanyan made the announcement in a Facebook post addressed to the people of Shirak.

“I would like to inform you that I have declined my mandate as a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and will continue my work as Governor of Shirak Province,” he wrote.

According to Arushanyan, public service is a responsibility towards the people, and he will continue working with that sense of responsibility for the development of Shirak, the implementation of new projects, the improvement of infrastructure, and the progress of both the province and Gyumri.

“Your trust is my greatest responsibility. Through daily work and practical steps, I will do everything possible to justify your expectations,” the Shirak governor wrote.

He also thanked the residents of Shirak Province for their support and cooperation, expressing confidence that joint efforts would ensure the province’s sustainable development and a prosperous future for Gyumri.

Arushanyan was appointed governor of Shirak on December 19, 2024. Before that, on October 26, 2022, he was elected to the National Assembly from the nationwide electoral list of the Civil Contract party.

In the 2026 parliamentary elections, Arushanyan was ranked 67th on the Civil Contract party’s electoral list.
