Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the EU TUMO Convergence Center for Engineering and Applied Science (EUCC).

The center is being built near the Hrazdan Gorge in Yerevan, in the vicinity of the existing TUMO Center. The building, covering a total area of 18,000 square meters, was designed by the world-renowned MVRDV architectural company.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the complex will include TUMO Labs with educational, engineering and incubation programs, 42 Yerevan — a local branch of the French programming school, research and applied laboratories, collaborative and co-financing platforms, a conference center, and business areas.

The project is being implemented in line with the Government of Armenia’s reforms aimed at developing technological education in the country. The total cost of the project amounts to €42.5 million, of which €12.5 million is an EU grant provided to the Simonyan Educational Foundation under the “EU for Innovation” program signed between Armenia and the European Union.

The construction of the EUCC is expected to strengthen Armenia’s position as a technological and engineering hub. According to project officials, the center will form a unique regional STEM hub, create new opportunities for investment and business cooperation, and provide education aligned with international standards.

Prime Minister Pashinyan delivered a speech during the ceremony, thanking the EU partners, the TUMO Center, and the project authors for implementing the initiative. In his remarks, the Prime Minister addressed the gap between people and the future, noting that overcoming it requires bringing the future into the present.

He stated that the future is not distant but is created today, emphasizing that the future societies experience depends on the decisions made in the present.

Pashinyan also noted that a good life is accessible in Armenia to all those who are willing to pursue education, regardless of age.

Since 2020, TUMO Labs and 42 Yerevan have provided innovative education to thousands of beneficiaries and implemented more than 55 projects in cooperation with local and international companies.
