Mher D. Sahakyan nominated for ISA Governing Council At-Large Representative position

Dr. Mher D. Sahakyan, Director of the China-Eurasia Council for Political and Strategic Research and Founding Editor of the Routledge Research in Eurasian Geopolitics book series, has been nominated as a candidate for the position of At-Large Representative on the Governing Council of the International Studies Association (ISA).
Following consideration of nominations from various countries, the ISA Nominating Committee selected seven candidates for the At-Large Representative position, including Armenian scholar Mher D. Sahakyan.
The candidates were selected based on their scholarly achievements, professional standing, commitment to diversity and academic values, and service to the International Studies Association.
“It is a great honor for me to be nominated for the position of member of the Governing Council of the International Studies Association. I would like to thank my colleagues, friends, and all those whose support and trust have played an important role in this achievement,” Mher D. Sahakyan said, according to a press release from the China-Eurasia Council for Political and Strategic Research.
The International Studies Association (ISA), based in the United States, is an academic organization dedicated to the study of international, transnational and global affairs. The association brings together scholars, practitioners, policy experts and other specialists from around the world.
The ISA Governing Council is the association’s principal governing body and is involved in its strategic development, academic policies and other key areas of organizational activity.
Mher D. Sahakyan is a recognized specialist in international relations, China’s foreign policy and Eurasian geopolitics, as well as the author of numerous scholarly works and an active advocate of international academic cooperation. His latest book, Routledge Handbook of China’s Belt and Road Initiative in Eurasia, was published by Taylor & Francis in the UK. He also teaches as a visiting lecturer at universities in China and France. In 2024–2025, as part of the Fulbright Program, Sahakyan conducted research as a visiting scholar at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University. From 2020 to 2022, he was an AsiaGlobal Fellow at the University of Hong Kong.
