There is political agreement among all European Union member states to provide support to Armenia through the European Peace Facility, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan told Radar Armenia media outlet in response to a query.
Radar Armenia: In recent days, contacts with the EU have been active in various formats, including bilateral meetings with member states, including the Hungarian Foreign Minister. Among the programs implemented within the framework of the Armenia-EU partnership, only the establishment of support under the European Peace Facility has seemingly slowed. Is there any change in this issue?
Badalyan: Yes, the discussions in that direction, including in the formats you mentioned, were aimed at specific results, and we appreciate the consensus formed by each of the 27 EU members and at the EU level in general, which, by the way, Minister Mirzoyan mentioned without [going into details] after the meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers yesterday. During the meeting with Minister Mirzoyan within the framework of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, all EU member states reaffirmed the support provided through this and other instruments, so we can state that there is an expressed political agreement. After ensuring the necessary internal procedures are in place, we expect approval of the second support to Armenia under the European Peace Facility.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, at the invitation of EU partners, participated in a meeting within the framework of the EU Foreign Affairs Council format on December 15.
For the first time, the EU decided to support Armenia from the European Peace Facility in 2024. Armenia has since applied for more support.
