According to a readout from the Ministry of Environment, the parties discussed opportunities for environmental protection and combating climate change.

Both sides emphasized the importance of exchanging experience, implementing sustainable development programs, and deepening international cooperation to respond effectively to global environmental challenges.

The Minister noted that Armenia is ready to deepen cooperation in various areas based on mutual interest.

The meeting also addressed the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, which will be hosted by Armenia in 2026.

The Minister stressed that Armenia is prepared for close collaboration with partner countries to ensure the successful organization of the conference and looks forward to the participation of a high-level delegation from Kenya.

As the presiding country of COP17, Armenia encourages all parties to submit their national reports by February 2026 to ensure a comprehensive and representative global assessment.

Hambardzum Matevosyan expressed confidence that Kenya, as an active player in climate and biodiversity issues and the host country of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Secretariat, will actively support the preparatory work for COP17, contributing to the successful conduct of the conference.
