Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and Head of the Armenia–India Friendship Group Hakob Arshakyan on Wednesday met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha. Members of the Armenia–India Friendship Group Tsovinar Vardanyan, Artur Khachatryan, Lilit Galstyan and Narek Babayan also attended the meeting.
Welcoming the ambassador, Arshakyan praised the expansion of relations with friendly India and the deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The NA Deputy Speaker highlighted the ambassador’s effective work in strengthening bilateral ties.
A number of issues were discussed at the meeting, including the initialing of the Agreement “On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” in Washington on August 8, 2025, the resolution of humanitarian issues, and the release of Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees held in Baku.
The parties agreed that there is great potential for developing cooperation, particularly in the economic, defense, cultural, and tourism sectors.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, the ambassador spoke about the need for the continuous development of bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of frequent mutual visits. Touching upon regional issues, Nilakshi Saha Sinha stated: “India wants to see Armenia strong and the region peaceful.”
