Armenia’s Hrazdan announced as location of first regional $500 million AI data center

The advanced AI infrastructure announced by Firebird, in collaboration with the Armenian government, NVIDIA, and Team, will be located in the Armenian town of Hrazdan, in Kotayk Province.

The mayor of the community, Sevak Mikayelyan, announced the news on Saturday, emphasizing that the $500 million project will become the first AI factory in the region.

He said that a high-capacity supercomputing infrastructure will be created in Hrazdan, which will support the implementation of innovative projects, the organization of technological production, and the development of scientific research activities.

“This is a unique opportunity for Armenia and Hrazdan: we are becoming a regional AI hub,” the community leader said on social media.

"NVIDIA’s market capitalization is approximately $4.6 trillion, making this collaboration an unprecedented opportunity for Armenia’s technological development," he added.

According to Mikayelyan, this investment will not only strengthen Armenia’s position in the international technology sector, but will also have a significant impact on the development of Hrazdan—bringing new jobs, improved infrastructure, and an innovative environment.

“The construction of the AI factory will be another major step in the development of our city, and this large-scale project once again proves that Hrazdan is continuously strengthening its position as a leading, developing, and innovative city,” Mikayelyan wrote.

Firebird, an AI cloud company, and the Armenian government—with support from NVIDIA—announced in June 2025 their vision for building advanced AI infrastructure to accelerate technological innovation and establish the Caucasus region as an AI hub.

The initiative will bring the first large-scale AI data center to the region. The 100-megawatt facility—backed by an initial $500 million investment—will use AI servers from Dell Technologies Inc. and Blackwell processors from NVIDIA. The first phase is scheduled to be operational in the second quarter of next year, Firebird Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Razmig Hovaghimian told Bloomberg after the company received U.S. government approval to export NVIDIA chips to Armenia.
