Armenia vows effective, high-quality implementation of EU Visa Liberalization Action Plan

Arpine Sargsyan, Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia and the Senior Official for the Visa Liberalization Dialogue with the EU, vowed on Wednesday that Armenia will consistently and effectively implement all obligations envisaged as part of the dialogue.

Johannes Luchner, the Deputy Director-General at the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission, handed over on November 5 the EU-Armenia Visa Liberalization Action Plan to Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan.

“The Republic of Armenia has ensured, and will continue to ensure, high-quality work within the framework of the visa liberalization dialogue with the European Union,” she said at a joint press conference with Luchner.

Sargsyan said that the EU-Armenia Visa Liberalization Action Plan is not merely a technical process for Armenia, but also a values-based opportunity to deepen ties with the European family.

“This is also a crucial opportunity to strengthen human, economic, cultural, and educational connections between Armenia and the European Union,” she said.

The minister expressed gratitude to Johannes Luchner, as well as to the EU Delegation in Armenia, for their cooperation and joint efforts.

“Today’s official handover of the Action Plan demonstrates the quality of our joint efforts and the bilateral commitment to continue this process until full visa liberalization is realized for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia,” Sargsyan emphasized.
