Electricity exports from Armenia to Iran to triple: Iranian Ambassador

The volume of electricity exports from Armenia to Iran is expected to increase significantly in the near future, Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Sobhani said at a press conference. According to him, after the operation of the third power transmission line, Iran will receive 200 megawatts of electricity from Armenia in the first phase.

The ambassador noted that after the Noravan 400-kilovolt substation is put into operation, the export volume will reach 700 megawatts. “This figure does not include the 300 megawatts of electricity received under the ‘gas for electricity’ program,” he explained.

Sobhani added that after the connection of the power line, the Iranian side will also be able to receive 200 megawatts of exports, and after the installation of transformers, the substation’s capacity will reach 400 kilovolts.

“As a result, the volume of electricity exports from Armenia to Iran will reach about 1,000 megawatts. So, we are talking about tripling it,” he emphasized.
