Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said he would visit Armenia next week to discuss issues pertaining to the Eurasian Economic Union, Interfax reported.
“I will be traveling to Yerevan next week. The visit was pre-planned. It is about the new legal act in Armenia’s legal regulations, which, we believe contradicts the Eurasian Economic Union’s legislation,” Interfax quoted him as saying.
He said he would meet PM Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan to discuss “certain nuances pertaining to the unblocking of connections in South Caucasus.”
He said a meeting with Azerbaijani officials in Russia is also expected next week to discuss these issues.
Asked whether a trilateral meeting could take place, he said, “We will discuss it, because if this is about the restoration of railways and improvement of transport links in the region, then it is better for the three of us to speak.” He emphasized that there is no specific agreement on such a meeting so far.
