The periodically occurring traffic congestion at the Armenian–Iranian border happens exclusively due to technical issues, and both countries maintain active contact to resolve them, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani said.
“It’s just technical issues,” he added at a press conference.
“Such technical problems exist on both sides. Sometimes 300 cargo trucks arrive at the border checkpoint at once, and that many vehicles cause congestion due to technical reasons,” the ambassador continued.
He noted that Iran maintains contact with Armenian authorities to simplify transport movements and avoid such problems.
“There may be problems, but they cannot be considered obstacles,” he concluded.
