Despite changes in the international and regional situation, Armenia and China have maintained mutual respect, trust, and mutually beneficial cooperation, leading to the steady development of bilateral relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, the Armenian Foreign Ministry has said in a press release.
“This is your first official visit to China, and I warmly welcome you,” Wang Yi said. “Since your appointment, you have actively supported and promoted the development of China-Armenia relations, which we highly appreciate. China and Armenia are ancient civilizations with rich histories and deep cultural roots. Our ties date back to ancient times and the ancient Silk Road testifies to the friendship and cooperation of our peoples.”
Wang Yi noted that, regardless of changes in the international and regional environment, the two countries have always maintained mutual respect, trust, and mutually beneficial collaboration, which has contributed to the steady development of their relationship.
He emphasized that Armenian-Chinese cooperation has produced tangible results across various sectors, particularly since the two countries became partners under the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.
"Thanks to this initiative, our cooperation, especially in trade and the economic sphere, has reached new heights. China has become one of Armenia’s key trading partners. Last year, our bilateral trade grew significantly, and in the first four months of this year, it increased by 58 percent, which is a rare growth rate among China's partners and a sign of the great potential for further cooperation. Chinese investments in Armenia are also welcomed. Many Chinese brands are widely available in Armenia, while renowned Armenian products enrich the daily lives of Chinese consumers,” he said.
Wang Yi also noted that humanitarian ties between the two countries are deepening. He pointed to the launch of direct flights between Armenia and China and the visa-free regime, which continue to promote closer ties between the peoples.
“We are ready to further strengthen our friendship with Armenia, deepen mutual trust, and expand cooperation for the development and prosperity of both our countries. Once again, I warmly welcome you. Thank you,” concluded the Chinese Foreign Minister.
