Armenia, Singapore expected to sign agreement between justice ministries

Armenian Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan has led a delegation to Singapore to attend the Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms: Best Practices for Efficient Judiciary high-level event. 

The purpose of the visit is to study Singapore’s justice and judiciary sectors and the application of ADR mechanisms, the ministry said in a press release.

Within the framework of the visit Minister Galyan met with Sigapore’s Minister of Law Edwin Tong. 

Galyan presented the agenda of justice reforms, particularly the reforms in the judiciary and mechanisms for resolving the existing problems. 

The Singaporean justice minister shared his country’s successful experience in the justice sector, presented the achievements of the past decades and highlighted the improvement of legislation and creation of sustainable institutions, as well as application of effective measures: envisaging specific timeframes for case examination and clear rules.

The sides agreed to sign a cooperation agreement. 

The visit was organized with support from the Asian Development Bank.
