The current authorities have never denied the Armenian Genocide and never plan on doing so, a lawmaker said on April 23, a day before the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
“Genocide must never take place in Real Armenia, generally, genocide must never again happen in Armenia,” ruling Civil Contract party MP Vahagn Aleksanyan told reporters.
Mentioning the ethnic cleansing of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023, the MP said that no such thing must ever happen in Real Armenia.
The term Real Armenia is Prime Minister Pashinyan’s brainchild doctrine.
“The memory of the genocide is in our hearts. We, our government, have never denied and don't plan to deny the genocide. We don’t try to monetize the genocide and [put it up for sale] in foreign relations,” Alexanyan said, accusing former President Robert Kocharyan and former President Serzh Sargsyan of doing so during their terms in office.
“Tomorrow, all of us together will mourn the memory of our innocent ancestors and visit Tsitsernakaberd memorial, just like every year,” Alexanyan added.
