Uruguayan legislators discuss 110th anniversary of Armenian Genocide

Uruguayan legislators have discussed the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide during a session of the Chamber of Representatives on April 9, the Armenian Embassy in Uruguay said in a press release.
The discussion was initiated by member of the Chamber of Representatives Jose Luis Satdjian.
Lawmakers representing all political forces endorsed Satdjian’s initiative and delivered remarks, proudly underscoring that Uruguay is the first country to have officially recognized the Armenian Genocide.
Legislators Jose Luis Satdjian, Ana Olivera, and Pedro Jisdonian also spoke about the ethnic cleansing of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian POWs unlawfully held in Azerbaijan, stressing that the Uruguayan parliament unanimously adopted a statement calling on Azerbaijan to urgently release all Armenian POWs.
The parliamentarians expressed special respect and solidarity to the Armenian people and the Armenian community of Uruguay, welcomed Armenian Ambassador Mariam Gevorgyan, who was in attendance, and lauded the Armenian embassy’s work.
