Authorities warn of scammers posing as foreign ministry staffers

The Armenian Foreign Ministry on Friday warned that online scammers have been posing as foreign ministry employees on social media in an apparent disinformation campaign. 

In a statement, the foreign ministry said social media users are posing as employees of the public diplomacy department and generating fake news that the ministry intends to launch an information platform. 

“We are informing that the foreign ministry has not launched any information platform and doesn’t plan to do so. Furthermore, no such division exists in the foreign ministry,” the foreign ministry said, warning social media users not to open any links sent by the scammers and ignore the messages.
