Pashinyan claims incident with Iranian citizens singing Azerbaijani song was staged to fuel tensions in Armenia-Iran ties

While responding to a question from opposition MP Kristine Vardanyan regarding an incident involving Iranian citizens singing an Azerbaijani song about Nagorno-Karabakh, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan assured that the matter had no connection to Azerbaijan.

"The incident was deliberately staged to create tensions in Armenia-Iran relations. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that they were financed by well-known circles aiming to harm these relations," Pashinyan stated.

He urged the public to remain resilient in such situations.

"They have identified our vulnerable spot. The public should not be alarmed by every trivial provocation. The opposition is shocked, let them be. This is a scene staged by them," he said.

The Prime Minister added that he was not fully informed about the details of the incident. However, he emphasized that if a legal assessment is necessary, it should specifically address any attempts to disrupt Armenia-Iran relations.
