The first EU expert mission has arrived in Armenia as part of developing the visa liberalization action plan.

The operational phase of the EU-Armenia Visa Liberalisation Dialogue was launched in December 2024.

The delegation was received on Tuesday by Armen Ghazaryan, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia.

Speaking about the ongoing comprehensive reforms in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ghazaryan said that as result of the close cooperation with the EU significant progress has been achieved in several directions, particularly the migration and citizenship area, as well as police.

The EU experts will conduct studies in Armenia February 10-14.

When the operational phase was launched, Armenia and the EU agreed that the next steps in the visa liberalisation progress would consist in two scoping visits early in 2025, to enable experts from the EU institutions and Member States to conduct a gap analysis. The results of these missions will help to establish the list of conditions necessary to achieve the long-term objective of visa-free travel for Armenian citizens to the EU.
