Prime Minister attends the opening ceremony of ''Blood Bank" center

Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan attended the opening ceremony of the reconstructed “Blood Bank” center at the Yolyan Hematology and Oncology Center.

According to the Prime Minister’s office, Pashinyan, accompanied by Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, toured the center to familiarize himself with its facilities, the organization of provided services, and ongoing development programs.

The center is a unique, specialized medical institution in Armenia and houses the country’s main blood bank, which serves as a reference hub for other blood banks.

It was noted that the reconstruction, expansion, and re-equipment of the Blood Bank aim to enhance medical care and service conditions for individuals across the republic who require blood transfusions.

In 2023, regional blood stations were integrated into the center, establishing a unified blood service. The goal of this initiative is to standardize the quality of blood components and facilitate their movement between stations.

According to officials, the movement of blood donors is now managed through the electronic "Armed" system.

Additionally, reserves of blood components are set to be established in all medical institutions where blood transfusions are performed.

This initiative is expected to relieve patients' relatives of concerns related to blood transfer, significantly improving the organization and efficiency of the process.

The "Blood Bank" center was established through a partnership between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the "Jinishyan" Memorial Foundation.
