YEREVAN, DECEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian government can provide a state surety for attracting a loan for the exploitation of the Amulsar gold mine, finance minister Vahe Hovhannisyan has said.

He said the ministry is now studying the package of documents provided by the mine’s operator, Lydian Armenia, and a decision will be made afterwards.

“In order for someone to apply for state guarantee [surety] or a budgetary loan, they must prepare certain documents. Now, our partners from Lydian have provided that package. The finance ministry is now studying that package,” Hovhannisyan said, expressing hope that the process will be conducted swiftly.

“And in case of a positive conclusion the state will provide that guarantee,” he said, referring to the government surety.

The exploitation of the gold mine will play an important role for the economic growth of the next years, the minister said. Furthermore, in its growth projections the government has taken into account the mine’s launch in mid-2025.

Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan earlier said discussions were underway with commercial banks over the matter.
