GYUMRI, DECEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. The Civil Contract party’s Gyumri office has summed up the results of the mayoral primaries.
The winner of the elections is set to become acting mayor.
1050 residents took part in the three-day preliminary elections. 34 ballots were recognized invalid, while 11 contained inaccuracies.
Independent candidate Sarik Minasyan is leading in the primaries with 253 votes. In 2013-2017 he served as head of the budget revenue collection and registration department at Gyumri City Hall. He was then elected MP in 2018 representing Bright Armenia party. Minasyan is now serving as the head of the Gyumri regional center of the Unified Social Service.
Member of Parliament Davit Arushanyan is the runner up with 220 votes. Another MP, Karen Sarukhanyan, garnered 143 votes, while the former vice mayor of Gyumri Vahagn Mkrtchyan has 138 votes.
Gyumri city councillor Shavarsh Aramyan garnered 88 votes, Civil Contract party’s youth wing Shirak coordinator Emma Barseghyan garnered 113 votes, while Levon Ananyan got 91 votes.
