Armenia and Azerbaijan need strategic accord, says PM Pashinyan

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has presented details about his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Russia.

Speaking in parliament, Pashinyan expressed satisfaction over the meeting, noting that they never had such a long conversation.

“In my opinion, the most important part was that an idea was voiced that Armenia and Azerbaijan have the need for not only a peace treaty and various treaties for peaceful coexistence, but also, in my opinion, have the need for signing a strategic deal about the formulas within the framework of which we, as an independent state, are going to live side by side in the coming centuries, because I think this is the most important and fundamental issue,” Pashinyan said.

Pashinyan said he has some perceptions about that strategic deal.

“By and large I can say that we have perceptions about that strategic deal. Our perception of the strategic deal is based on the concept of Real Armenia. And I find this conversation to be very important, although this conversation should have political manifestations,” Pashinyan said.

Real Armenia is a concept adopted by PM Pashinyan’s government.
