WCIT 2024/DigiTec opening ceremony in Yerevan likely to feature Elon Musk video address

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 3, ARMENPRESS. SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk will likely deliver a video address during the opening ceremony of WCIT 2024/DigiTec in Yerevan, organizers said Thursday.

The event will be held October 4-7 in Yerevan, Armenia.

Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) President Alexander Yesayan, WCIT 2024 executive director Hayk Karapetyan, WCIT 2024 coordinator and advisor to the high-tech industry minister Nazeli Hayrapetyan, UATE executive director Sargis Karapetyan and Member of the Board of Directors of Fastex, the partner of the organizers, Vahagn Badalyan, delivered a press conference ahead of the event.

Yesayan said the event will become the biggest event in the IT sector. He said hundreds of guests will arrive for participation. “Participants will speak about innovative solutions in AI sector, and where AI is leading the world, as well as how it is impacting the business environment,” he said.

The event will be launched with a concert on October 4 in Republic Square, Yerevan.

Armenia hosted WCIT before in 2019. 

Yesayan thanked partners supporting the organization of the congress, particularly Fastex and Fastbank.

Nazeli Hayrapetyan said the Armenian government attaches great importance to holding such events in the country in terms of promoting the sector and attracting investors.

The DigiTec event will be twice bigger than before, featuring nearly 100 startups.

Alexander Yesayan said they have a preliminary agreement that the opening ceremony will feature a video address by Elon Musk.
