Ucom press release

With the support of Ucom, a new AI-powered camera system for wildlife monitoring has been installed in the community of Paruyr Sevak in Armenia’s Ararat region. Ucom has provided uninterrupted connectivity and the server infrastructure needed to store the monitoring data.

The new system enables monitoring data to be received in real time, securely transmitted and stored, ensuring round-the-clock surveillance of the area.

“It is important to us that Ucom’s technological capabilities also help create lasting value for nature. This project demonstrates how connectivity, data and conservation efforts can come together, with with technology becoming not only infrastructure, but also a conservation tool. We will continue to support initiatives that help preserve Armenia’s nature,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.

The AI-powered camera system plays an important role in protecting the territories of the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR). It enables the early detection of smoke and potential fire outbreaks in hard-to-reach and environmentally sensitive areas. It can also detect unusual movements, attempted poaching and unauthorized entry, allowing the conservation team to respond rapidly.

At the same time, round-the-clock monitoring is carried out without disrupting the animals’ natural activities or disturbing them.

“The introduction of this system is an important step toward more effective protection of the area’s biodiversity. We thank Ucom for standing alongside us in wildlife eonservation through technological solutions,” said Ruben Khachatryan, Founder and Director of FPWC.

Introducing technological solutions for wildlife conservation is  one of the important areas of Ucom’s environmental and corporate social responsibility programs. The company continues to support the protection of Armenia’s ecosystems and biodiversity by putting modern connectivity and technological capabilities at the service of environmental initiatives.
