Armenian Prime Minister meets with French FM in Yerevan

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has received French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Stéphane Séjourné. 

The Prime Minister “welcomed the visit of the delegation led by Stéphane Séjourné to the Republic of Armenia and attached importance to the further development of ties with France, including in security and the economy”, Pashinyan’s office said in a readout.

“Our strategy is as follows, we want to strengthen our sovereignty, independence, our statehood, and on this path of course we highly value France’s support,” PM Pashinyan said. He underscored the French readiness to support the development of Armenia-EU ties.

Stéphane Séjourné thanked for the warm reception and likewise stressed the importance of consistent development of Armenia-France cooperation in the sectors of security and economy. 

“France stands by Armenia and will continue its support to the Armenian people, we’ve also made every effort in order for the relationship between our two peoples to get stronger,” the French FM said.

Various topics on the agenda of the Armenia-France relationship were discussed. Views were exchanged around Armenia-EU partnership. The sides attached importance to the launch of the visa liberalization dialogue, as well as the decision to provide support to Armenia through the European Peace Facility.

The Armenian Prime Minister and the French Foreign Minister also touched upon the discussions around the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty and the processes taking place in the region.
