Armenian FM says meetings with Turkish, Azeri counterparts were positive

Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan on April 16 said his meetings with his Turkish and Azeri counterparts during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 were generally positive.

He said these contacts are effective in terms of the overall process.

Mirzoyan made the remarks during a joint press conference with his Slovenian counterpart Tanja Fajon in Yerevan.

“We can’t say that we have final solutions or agreements as a result of the meetings, contacts and conversations with the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkiye in Antalya, but we also can’t deny that nevertheless the meetings, discussions and conversations make the parties more understandable for each other, topics, subtopics or new topics can be discussed from meetings to meetings, which are certainly effective in terms of the overall process,” Mirzoyan said in response to a question by Armenpress, adding that the contacts with his Turkish and Azeri counterparts were positive.

Mirzoyan said the positions of Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding normalization are well-known. “In Antalya we tried to have some progress, but it would be an exaggeration to say that we have achieved a solution, but discussions must continue,” he said.

Addressing Azerbaijan’s claims regarding the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, Mirzoyan said if a de facto ended conflict would be de jure confirmed with a peace agreement, then there would be no need for the Minsk format.

“Thus Yerevan is proposing to sign the peace agreement and appeal to the OSCE regarding the dissolution of the Minsk Group on the same day,” Mirzoyan said.
