Two of eight destroyed railway sections restored - "South-Caucasian Railway"

YEREVAN, JUNE 4, ARMENPRESS.The movement of trains has been restored on two of the 8 damaged sections of the railway from the Sanahin station to the Ayrum station,reportedthe company "South-Caucasian Railway", stressing that the movement is still limited in terms of speed and type of rolling stock.

Currently, the collapsed section of the Alaverdi-Haghpat road is being cleaned through blasting and dismantling of destroyed structures, large-scale work is being carried out to clear areas and build access roads for construction equipment. A platform is built on one of the destroyed sections and an embankment is formed.

At the Akhtala station, the restoration work on the 230-meter-long power line, as well as 400-meter-long communication towers and cables, has been completed. Finished cleaning of the station's outdoor equipment and dismantling of damaged automation devices.

At the same time, materials and equipment are delivered from abroad, contracts are concluded, stone deliveries are carried out from various quarries.

Preparatory works are underway at Ayrum station and materials and equipment are being imported in order to prepare for the reception of oil products.It is planned that a temporary scheme for the import of goods to Armenia will be organized based on the Ayrum station.

In total, 265 employees of the company "South-Caucasian Railway" were involved in the restoration work. The total number of employees sent from Russia is more than 30 people. A few more specialists are expected from the company "Georgian Railways".

The shunting locomotive of the enterprise continues to transport equipment and people to isolated settlements - Karkop, Chochkan, Mets Ayrum and Pokr Ayrum.
