YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS. The 2030 state program for education development passed parliament at the second reading.
Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Vahram Dumanyan said that the program will guide and coordinate the sector’s future reforms and development programs.
The program has the following strategic directions: universal inclusiveness, learning-focused educational environment and increase of education effectiveness.
Among main objectives are the internationalization and export of education services and products, thus improving Armenia’s position in the global education system.
The higher education system will undergo significant reforms to achieve international competitiveness. At least four universities are expected to be included in the top 500 universities of the world by 2030. Up to eight new universities offering tuition-free education will be opened.
All universities will have internationally acceptable licensing and certification requirements.
Expansion of opportunities for teaching in foreign languages in all levels of higher education is also envisaged.
The reforms also cover the school and pre-school sector.
