Media literacy is a skill of the 21st century. ARMENPRESS hosts schoolchildren, holds media literacy class

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. It’s already a few days "Media Literacy Week" has been launched in Armenia, within the framework of which ARMENPRESS state news agency also joined the campaign and accepted students from a number of schools under its roof.

"Media Literacy Week" events are held with the joint efforts of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia and the Media Initiatives Center on November 7-13.

The program mainly includes students in grades 7 and above. The selection of the age group is conditioned by the fact that with the new standard of general education, professional orientation clubs are introduced in general education schools starting from the 7th grade, that is, these visits are also considered in the context of introducing professions.

On November 10 and 11, schoolchildren toured ARMENPRESS news agency, got acquainted with the working process, had a meeting and a discussion on media literacy with the director of the agency Narine Nazaryan and deputy editor-in-chief Nelly Margaryan and received answers to their questions.

The students mentioned that they received very important information and from now on they will use social networks more carefully, cautiously and will not follow suspicious pages.
