YEREVAN, OCTOBER 27, ARMENPRESS. President Serzh Sargsyan met with President of Nuclear Energy Safety Council Adolf Birkhofer on October 27 at Government Reception House, who arrived in Armenia to participate in the 14th regular session of the Nuclear Safety Council (AESC) under Armenian President.

As the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the Armenian President’s office informed “Armenpress”, Armenian President and the president of Nuclear Safety Council referred to the project works, implemented over the increase of the security level of Armenian Nuclear plant, to the cooperation with MAGATE including the cooperation in the frames of “OSART” mission.

After the meeting President Serzh Sargsyan participated in the session of Nuclear Energy Safety Council at Government Reception House and had a speech.

“Dear Mr. Chairman,

Dear Council members and session participants,

Opening the session of Nuclear Safety Council, I want to express a sincere gratitude to all the members of the council for professional support on increase of the security level of Armenian NPP.

Armenian NPP has a particular role in delivery of Uninterruptible electrical power and in the safety of energy security of the Republic that is why your work is very significant for us. I am very grateful to you.

During the period after previous session changes were made in the council: connected with Mr. Bezzubtsev’s appointment to another work, we involved Alexey Ferapontov into the council.

Alexey Victorich, we wish you successful and efficient work. I express my gratitude to you for agreeing to be the member of our council. After a week, on November 5, Armenian NPP will mark the 20th anniversary of reopening the second energy unit after six years of temporary cessation of activities. An unprecedented scale restoration work was performed by numerous special engineer solutions. Since the moment of reopening the second unit, 1400 events on increasing the security level were implemented”.

Armenian President also expressed his gratitude to MAGATE for technical support to the governments of various countries.  He referred to the agreement signed between Armenian and Russia on cooperation of the extension of the project of second block’s usage. He also told that a document was formed to eliminate the rebukes of “OSART” mission.
