Armenia’s President attends Nuclear Energy Safety Council’s session

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan had a meeting with the Chairman of the Armenian Presidential Council on Nuclear Energy Safety (CNES) Adolf Birkhofer on November 6. Adolf Birkhofer has arrived in Armenia to attend the CNES regular session. The Mass Media and Public Relations Department of the President’s Office informed “Armenpress” that President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Adolf Birkhofer reflected upon the activities aimed at raising the safety level of Armenia’s Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant and the its current state. Among other things the interlocutors highlighted that the NPP’s seismic safety level is secured.

In addition the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Chairman of the Armenian Presidential Council on Nuclear Energy Safety Adolf Birkhofer have also touched upon the Armenian NPP’s future exploitation and cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Following the aforesaid meeting, President Serzh Sargsyan participated in the session of the Council on Nuclear Energy Safety along with the CNES Chairman Adolf Birkhofer. Also, the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan delivered opening remarks at the session of the Council on Nuclear Energy Safety held on November 6 in the reception house of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
