Turkey should feel approaching “Armenian tsunami”: Harut Sassounian

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS: Ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide all the Diaspora Armenian groups should be urgently united to organize the related events efficiently. Harut Sassounian, the co-chair of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee of Western America, the publisher of The California Courier, published in Los Angeles, noted in the talk with Armenpress that quite large-scale works are being carried out though there are certain problems demanding urgent settlement. “We are moving forward with confident steps but there are issues due to the settlement of which the works will be more efficient”, - said Harut Sassounian.

The publisher of The California Courier did not want to note what events are going to be held, emphasizing that it should be a surprise for Turkey and now it is not the time to talk about them. “Turkey will have a serious surprise if we manage to unite and work together actively. They are already concerned in Turkey and are talking about the approaching “Armenian tsunami” and we should do so that they would really see that “tsunami”, - he added.

In Turkey they know quite well that genocide was carried out against the Armenians and the sooner they recognize this fact, the better it will be for them. “If they recognize the Genocide it will be great, if not, worse for them”, - concluded Harut Sassounian, the co-chair of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee of Western America, the publisher of The California Courier.

The State Committee coordinating the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was formed by the decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on April 23 2011. Ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committees were established in the Armenian communities all over the world.
