Armenian students capture 7 medals in International Mathematics Competition

YEREVAN, AUGUST 8, ARMENPRESS. The International Mathematics Competition for Students took place in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria.

The Ministry of Education and Science told ARMENPRESS Armenian students have captured 7 medals.

320 students participated in the Olympiad from 72 universities across the world.

Armenian students were from the Yerevan State University, the American University of Armenia and the Armenian-Russian University.

Albert Gevorgyan and Albert Sahakyan from YSU captured gold medals. Vazgen Mikayelyan captured silver. Avetik Karagulyan – bronze.

From the AUA – Artyom Kosyan captured silver medal and Levon Stepanyan – bronze.

From the Armenian-Russian University – Hrachya Kocharyan won the bronze medal.

The Armenian teams were managed by YSU lecturer Karen Keryan.

The first IMC was held in 1959 in Romania. Since then, it is held annually.
