World Congress on IT a great opportunity to position Armenia in list of countries with developed and viable ecosystem – deputy PM

YEREVAN, MARCH 1, ARMENPRESS. High-level discussion dedicated to the organizational works of the World Congress on Information Technology 2019 was held in the Armenian government led by deputy prime minister Tigran Avinyan. An inter-agency working group will be formed based on the discussion, the deputy PM’s Office told Armenpress.

During the meeting Tigran Avinyan said the WCIT 2019, which will be held in Yerevan, is an important event because the Congress is being held every two years, and in the past 10 years it will take place in Europe, that is in Armenia, for the first time. The event provides a great opportunity to position Armenia in the list of countries with a developed and viable ecosystem.

The deputy PM said over 2000 figures from public and private sector are invited to attend the Congress. The topics of the Congress are artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital decentralization, national digital agendas, smart cities and etc. Already hundreds of companies have been registered for participation in the Congress.

Avinyan said the government and the Congress organizational team should work jointly aimed at holding the event at the highest level.

The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) is the largest and the most reputable international event among worldwide IT leaders.

It brings together high-level officials from different countries, heads of multinational organizations, universities and scientific research centers, non-governmental organizations' representatives and many more.

The event includes discussions of legal, political and economic trends affecting IT business processes, presentations of innovative solutions, B2B meetings and so on.
