Israel’s Netanyahu comments on resignation of Iranian FM

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 26, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the resignation of Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Reuters reports.

“Zarif has gone. Good riddance. As long as I am here, Iran will not have nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu said on Twitter.

Foreign minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarifhas announced his resignation on his Instagram account.

“Many thanks forthe generosity ofthe dear and brave people ofIran and its authorities overthe past67 months. I sincerely apologize forthe inability tocontinue the service and forall the shortcomings duringthe service. Be happy and worthy”, Zarif wrote.

According toReuters, citing Tasnim news agency, some local sources familiar withthe matter have confirmed Zarif's resignation, however, it was not immediately clear whether Iranian President Hassan Rouhani would accept it.

Zarif is serving as the foreign minister of Iran since August, 2013.
