Production of alcoholic beverage rises in Armenia with brandy as leader

YEREVAN, MARCH 6, ARMENPRESS. An increase of production has been recorded for almost all types of alcoholic beverages in January 2017 in Armenia with the exception of vodka and liquor.

“Armenpress” reports citing the data released by the National Statistical Service, brandy leads the list of most produced alcoholic beverages. 1 million and 831.2 liters of brandy were produced in Armenia in January 2017. This number has increased by 187.5% or 2.9 folds compared to the same period of 2016.

In 2016 brandy production in Armenia increased by 27% amounting to 21 million and 529.2 thousand liters. In 2015 brandy production has declined in Armenia by 9.4% amounting to 16.9 million liters. The decline stood at 8% in 2014 with 18.7 million liters of brandy production while constant rise in Armenia’s brandy production was recorded in the period of 2009-2013. Armenia produced nearly 20.2 million liters in 2013, 18.5 million liters in 2012, 15.3 million liters in 2011, 12.6 million liters in 2010 and 9.8 million liters in 2009. In the crisis year of 2008 Armenia produced 15.9 million liters of brandy.

165.7 thousand liters of whisky were produced in January, 2017 which is an increase of 31.1% against 2016. Wine production rose by 39% amounting to 344.6 thousand liters. Champagne wine production rose by 26.2% amounting to 31.8 thousands liters. Beer production rose by 9.6% amounting to 491.9 liters.

Only the production of vodka and liquor has dropped by 37% amounting to 339.3 thousand liters.
