The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced Wednesday that police are carrying out special operations across the country aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring public safety.

According to a press release, the operations are focused on strengthening oversight of people with “criminal tendencies” and potential gathering places, as well as removing illegally circulating weapons, ammunition and drugs.

During patrols and inspections in different communities, police identified and booked around 150 people who had previously been convicted or were considered to have criminal tendencies.

The targeted operations also resulted in the discovery of drugs, weapons and ammunition.

The ministry said police will continue to respond to any activity posing a threat to public safety and that such special operations to prevent and counter criminal activity are conducted periodically.
