YEREVAN, MARCH 6, ARMENPRESS. The Communist Party of Armenia launched the election campaign with “Fatherland, work, socialism” slogan, reports “Armenpress”.

First Secretary of the party Tachat Sargsyan said the party first of all wants to highlight the major opportunities the country achieved during the Soviet years. “Today the poverty rate is very high in the country. Conditions are not created to prevent emigration. Science also faces problems”, he said.

Tachat Sargsyan said the economic development and work, the tendency to provide people with jobs are the basis of the party ideology. “It’s time to have a control over banks. We believe that the public sector must play much more role in the economic development. It’s time to start cooperative farms in villages. Many people ask us why we are not forming an alliance with any political force. We have signed an alliance with the people: if the party wins, the people will win. Our goal is to establish a socialist society”, he said.

Commenting on Armenia’s membership to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Tachat Sargsyan said it will not only contribute to the economic development, acquiring new economic ties, but also it will not hinder the strengthening of EU-Armenia ties.

Armenia’s parliamentary election will be held on April 2.
