Snowfalls prompt shutdown of several urban and rural roads, highways across Armenia

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 1, ARMENPRESS. As of 08:30, numerous highways and roads throughout the country are difficult to pass or have been shut down, the ministry of emergency situations told ARMENPRESS.
The ministry said the H23 intercommunity highway’s Urasar-Katnaghbyur section and the roads of Shenkan village of Aragatsotn province have been shut down.
The Vardenyats Pass section of the M10 highway is difficult to pass, as well as the roads of Hrazdan and Charentsavan cities, and the 22-38km section of Sotk-Karvajar highway.
Clear ice has formed along the highways and roads of Tavush, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Shirak and Syunik provinces, Spitak-Gyumri (M7), Spitak-Yerevan (M3), Ashtarak-Yeghvard (H6 and H4).
Currently it’s snowing in the provinces of Aragatsotn, Ararat, Vayots Dzor, Tavush and Armavir, and in the cities of Kapan, Kajaran, Sisian, Gavar and Tchambarak.
A blizzard has formed in the Saravan-Zanger highway section.
Georgian authorities said the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open for all types of vehicles with the use of snow chains, except trailers.
