Armenia’s self governmental system is not only well established, but has proved its vitality –President Sargsyan

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. Armenia marks the 20th anniversary of the investment of self governmental system. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan delived a congratulatory speech on this occasion on November 14 at the National AcademicTheatreofOpera and Balletafter AlexanderSpendiarian.

“Our first local elections took place on November 10, 1996. This heralded the investment of a new democratic system of self government in Armenia”, the President said, adding that it helped Armenia to access to the CoE. “Today we can record with satisfaction that the self governmental system is not only well established, but has proved its vitality”, “Armenpress” reports Serzh Sargsyan said. He added that being established does not yet mean that there are no drawbacks in the sphere.

In the sidelines of the event President Sargsyan bestowed high state awards on a number of local leaders, including Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan.
